Six Shooter makes Big Drama first stakes win

Six Shooter burst up the rail for a 1 1/4-length win over Ninth Street in Saturday night’s $75,000 Big Drama at Delta Downs.
The race for 3-year-olds was one of two stakes on the card. The $50,000 Sam’s Town for 4-year-olds and up at five furlongs was won by A M Milky Way ($35.80).
Six Shooter ($5.20) sat off the pace in fifth as B W Express set contested fractions of 23.18 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.80 for the half-mile before being overtaken by Mr Money Bags, who finished third. Six Shooter advanced on the turn, moved to the rail into the stretch, and went on to cover the 7 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 1:35.03.
Tommy Pompell was aboard the winner for trainer Paul Holthus.
Six Shooter is a son of Trappe Shot who was winning his first stakes. He races for the partnership of Dundalk, N P H Stable, and Wes Herek.
Holthus said last week that with the right effort Six Shooter could see stakes action at Oaklawn. The horse is based at the track that opens Jan. 25.
A M Milky Way was a length winner over Hold Me Black in the Sam’s Town. It was another 6 3/4 lengths back to Imma Bling in third.
A M Milky Way covered the distance on a fast track in 58.72 seconds. Eguard Tejera rode the winner for David Davis and trainer Beverly Burress. A M Milky Way is by Elusive Bluff.
