The Rainbow 6 jackpot at Gulfstream Park has not been hit in 17 racing days and enters Thursday’s card with a carryover of $674,996. Here is a quick-and-dirty look at Thursday’s Rainbow 6, which begins with race 4. Race 4: Vicky Apple faced better at Gulfstream Park West in her two starts, which came last fall. A repeat of either race off the layoff will make her tough to handle in this one-mile race for maiden $12,500 claiming 3-year-old fillies – a fact reinforced by her Beyer Speed Figures. Several others in the field have had their chances or shown little. Perhaps Bode Baby has more talent than she showed in her only start, a 25-length defeat on turf here three weeks ago, and she wouldn’t have to be anything great on the switch to dirt to take these. Race 5: In her 16th start, Broadcast Time showed improved speed and nearly wired a group of $12,500 maiden claimers sprinting five furlongs on turf. He returns in a similar race and might finally get the job done. Starship Pinnacle returns from a nine-month layoff at the lowest level of his career. He wasn’t embarrassed against maiden $40,000 claimers last year. Race 6: Red Hot Kitten has shown flashes of talent during her four-race career and drops in for a tag for the first time in this conditioned $20,000 claimer for fillies and mares going 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. She hasn’t run on grass, but as a daughter of Kitten’s Joy she should take to it. Trainer Victor Barboza Jr. has the one-two punch of the speedy Helen and the late-running Miss Mariu. Race 7: What do you do with a field of eight unraced 2-year-old fillies going 4 1/2 furlongs? You take the Wesley Ward-trained runner, of course. Bosworthy doesn’t show the steady string of workouts you’d like to see, but she does have a couple of bullets. You could be in worse hands than those of Ward and owner Stonestreet Stables. Race 8: This five-furlong turf sprint for conditioned $35,000 fillies and mares comes down to Miss Inside or Miss Outside. Nilestar breaks from the rail in her first start for a tag. She won a maiden race sprinting on turf in her debut in February, but hasn’t been close in her two subsequent starts, both allowance sprints on turf. She appears to be dropping for the win in her first start for trainer Ralph Nicks. Subsidiary also makes her fourth start and also is in for a tag for the first time. She has a good chance to clear the field from her outside post. This is her first race on turf. Race 9: Uncaptured Angel seems to have found her level and is sitting on a win. She rallied for second in a 7 1/2-furlong turf race for maiden $20,000 claimers here three weeks ago and returns in a similar spot going a mile.
