Sittin At the Bar holds on in Hallowed Dreams

OPELPOUSAS, La. – Sittin At the Bar ran her local record to a perfect 4 for 4 on Friday night when she captured the $60,000 Hallowed Dreams Stakes at Evangeline Downs. Afternoon Tango finished a half-length back in second and 6 1/4 lengths in front of Guadalupe High in third. Dawn’s Cherokee was a late scratch in the six-furlong affair for fillies and mares.

Ridden by Colby Hernandez, Sittin At the Bar ($3) dueled with Guadalupe High in the early stages closest to the inside before putting that rival away when straightened for home. The 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief had enough left to hold the runner-up safe in the late going, stopping the timer in 1:10.34 over a fast track.

The winner is trained by Brett Brinkman for Dale Ladner and has now won 11 of 19 career starts. Saturday night’s $36,000 payday increased her career bankroll to more than $705,000.
