Sittin At the Bar back at favorite track for Hallowed Dreams Stakes

OPELOUSAS, La. – There are horses for courses, and then there are super horses for courses.
Sittin At the Bar certainly belongs in the latter category and will put her 3-for-3 local record on the line Friday night at Evangeline Downs when she heads the cast for the $60,000 Hallowed Dreams Stakes.
Named for the crack Louisiana-bred mare who once put together a 16-race win streak, the Hallowed Dreams will be contested at six furlongs and drew a select field of five.
Sittin At the Bar, a 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, has compiled a 10-for-18 record, including five wins during her 2013 campaign. She won her career debut at Evangeline in August of her 2-year-old season. She returned here last year to capture both the Acadiana and Louisiana Legends Lady Stakes during the summer. A pair of stakes wins at Louisiana Downs followed before Sittin At the Bar concluded her 2013 campaign with unplaced efforts in the Grade 2 Raven Run at Keeneland in October and the Champions Day Louisiana Ladies Sprint in December.
After some freshening, Sittin At the Bar returned and captured an open allowance and the Premier Matron Stakes at Delta Downs early this year. Most recently, she journeyed to Oaklawn Park, where she reported home fifth in the Spring Fever Stakes in February after helping set some quick early fractions.
“That was probably my fault,” said trainer Brent Brinkman. “I had her revved up pretty good for those two five-furlong races at Delta, so she was pretty keen.”
“She came out of that Oaklawn race fine,” Brinkman added. “We’ve got a couple of breezes in her since. We expect her to run well.”
Colby Hernandez, aboard for the two Delta wins this year, will return to the saddle.
