Sistercharlie tops Flower Bowl

ELMONT, N.Y. – Sistercharlie, the reigning female turf champion and a winner of five consecutive Grade 1 races, will be heavily favored to make it six in a row when she heads a field of seven entered Thursday for Sunday’s Grade 1, $500,000 Flower Bowl, a Win and You’re In race for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita.
Sistercharlie will be making just her third start of the year after winning both the Diana and Beverly D. She will break from post 2 under John Velazquez.
Sistercharlie will have her trusty stablemate Thais in the Flower Bowl to make sure there is a legitimate pace.

Mrs. Sippy and Empressof the Nile, who ran 1-2 in the Grade 2 Glens Falls Stakes at Saratoga for trainer Graham Motion, are back for the Flower Bowl.
Ferdinanda, Beau Belle, and Lantiz complete the field.
Sunday’s card also includes the Grade 1, $500,000 Frizette Stakes, a Win and You’re In race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.
Trainer Bob Baffert has shipped in listed stakes winner Quality Response to take on Spinaway runner-up Frank’s Rockette as well as Daphne Moon, Ice Princess, Miss Marissa, Wicked Whisper, and Slam Dunk.
The Grade 3, $150,000 Futurity, a Win and You’re In race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, drew six horses including stakes winners Another Miracle, Embolden, and Four Wheel Drive, as well as maiden winners Tomato Bill, Freewheeler, and Jack and Noah.
