ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Sister Seagull completed a sweep of the last two legs of the Canadian Triple Tiara with a determined score under Antonio Gallardo in Sunday’s $250,000 Wonder Where Stakes at Woodbine. After getting jostled between rivals shortly after the break, Sister Seagull raced about five lengths off the lead on the backstretch of the 1 1/4-mile turf route. Strega set sail on an uncontested lead while Swoop to Finish took up the chase in second. Sister Seagull began to mount a three-wide rally midway on the far turn and then wore down Swoop to Finish in the stretch to win by a length, in a time of 2:04.65 over the firm main course. Devil’s Bit finished third ahead of favored Whimsical Dance. Strega and and Keep It Neat completed the order of finish. :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. The Wonder Where was the daughter of Hard Spun’s turf debut and first start beyond 1 1/8 miles. “She’s always acted like she wants to go farther,” trainer Catherine Day Philips said. “Her breeding suggests turf. She had two tough races coming into this, so that was a little bit of a concern. She’s not a big, strong filly, but she’s all heart.” Sister Seagull returned a generous $7.90 as the second choice and banked $150,000 for owners Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry.
