Sister Peacock prevails as favorite in Graham Memorial

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The favored Sister Peacock attended the pace on the outside before drawing off in the lane to take Saturday’s $102,400 William D. Graham Memorial Stakes easily on the Woodbine Oaks undercard.
After breaking from the outside post 13, Sister Peacock ($7.20) pressed Sister Mistake through honest fractions in the 6 1/2-furlong turf dash for 3-year-old fillies.
Sister Peacock assumed command early in the stretch and then drew off to prevail by 2 1/4 lengths after being geared down late. Double Medal rallied from sixth to finish second over another longshot, Lady Grace.
Jesse Campbell got a leg up from trainer Stuart Simon on Sister Peacock, who covered the distance in 1:13.80 over firm ground.
“She’s a racehorse,” Campbell said. “Stuart said to ride her like the best horse. I did. She went off and did her thing.”
Sister Peacock, from the first crop of Arlington Million winner Real Solution, earned $60,000 in her second straight stakes score for the partnership of Simon and Brent and Russell McLellan.
