Sister Peacock leads throughout Star Shoot for first stakes win

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Sister Peacock secured an easy lead and never looked back to notch her first stakes win in Sunday’s $101,900 Star Shoot at Woodbine.
Sister Peacock broke sharply under Jesse Campbell and proceeded to set moderate fractions in the six-furlong dash for 3-year-old fillies. The Kentucky shipper Missmizz chased throughout in second, but she wasn’t a serious threat to Sister Peacock, who prevailed by 1 1/4 lengths in a time of 1:09.53.
Power Gal checked in third over 2-1 second choice Intanga Rose, who endured her first loss while ending up fourth in the nine-horse field. Malibu Dawn was scratched.
“She was well prepared,” Campbell said. “She stood very quiet [in the gate], very well, so I didn’t move her, and she left there. She’s a very smart, talented filly.”
Sister Peacock was bet down to favoritism late, returning $5.70. She banked $60,000 for the partnership of Brent and Russell McLellan and trainer Stu Simon.
