SirePowered Results: Yes It’s True

DRF Breeding Staff|Jul 14, 2015
Calamity Kate wins the Delaware Oaks
HoofprintsInc.com Calamity Kate wins the Delaware Oaks on July 11 at Delaware Park.

Calamity Kate pulled a major upset in last Saturday’s Grade 3 Delaware Oaks, triggering a $110.80 payout as the longest shot on the board. It was the first career stakes victory for the filly, who became the second graded stakes winner of 2015 for veteran sire Yes It’s True, according to Daily Racing Form’s SirePowered Results.

Calamity Kate, who races for George and Lori Hall, earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 92 for her Delaware Oaks upset. The filly is the first foal out of the Tiznow mare Justmeandmyshadow, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Officer.

Yes It’s True’s standout over the last two seasons has been La Verdad, who captured five stakes in 2014 and is now unbeaten in three starts this season. The mare won the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct, followed by the Grade 3 Vagrancy Handicap and the Dancin Renee Stakes at Belmont Park.

Millionaire Yes It’s True won 11 of 22 starts during his own racing career. His 10 stakes victories were highlighted by a score in the Grade 2 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash. The son of Is It True stands at Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky., and his 54 career stakes winners to date are highlighted by Grade 1 winners Proud Accolade and The Big Beast.
