Classic Point wins 2015 Inside Information
Barbara D. Livingston Classic Point wins the Inside Information Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

Just days after the death of legendary trainer Allen Jerkens, Classic Point scored an emotional victory in taking the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park. Allen Jerkens had trained Classic Point for owner-breeder Joseph Shields Jr. until summer 2014, when she was turned over to Jerkens’s son and fellow trainer, Jimmy Jerkens.

Classic Point, who is out of the Langfuhr mare Discerning, posted a Beyer Speed Figure of 82 in her third consecutive stakes victory.

Classic Point’s victory capped off a big week for sire Flatter. According to DRF’s SirePowered Results, the Claiborne Farm stallion was represented by six total winners from March 15 to March 22, including a pair of stakes winners.

Flattering Bea earned her third career stakes victory by scoring in the Violet Handicap on March 18 at Charles Town, earning a Beyer of 75. The mare, who is out of the stakes-placed Wild Rush mare Wild Bea, runs as a homebred for James Arrison.

Flatter's other winners on the week were Sweet Sandy, winner of a maiden claiming race on the Tampa Bay turf March 18; Flattering Touch, who won an optional-claiming event March 18 at Oaklawn; Hattie B, an allowance winner at Charles Town on March 18; and Cleo's Krewe, who won an allowance at Mountaineer on March 21.

Flatter, a son of A.P. Indy, won 4 of 6 career starts, earning $148,815. The full brother to graded stakes winner and sire Congrats finished third in the Grade 2 Washington Park Handicap.

Flatter entered stud at Claiborne in 2004 and has since sired 34 stakes winners, led by Flat Out, a three-time Grade 1 winner who bankrolled more than $3.6 million. He also is the sire of Grade 2 winner Upstart, a leading candidate for the Florida Derby on March 28.
