Sir Wellington holds off Jaxon Traveler for Gazebo win

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Sir Wellington withstood a late surge from Jaxon Traveler to win the $150,000 Gazebo by a head Saturday at Oaklawn Park.
It was another 3 3/4 lengths back in third to Game Day Play.
The Gazebo was a six-furlong race for 3-year-olds. Cazadero was the 4-5 favorite as the winner of last year's Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs and finished fourth in what was his first start since August.
Sir Wellington ($15.40) sat in third in the early stages Saturday, as Lock Up blitzed through an opening quarter in 21.71 seconds. Jockey Alex Canchari angled Sir Wellington off the rail down the backside, and continued to chase Lock Up through a half-mile in 44.83. The eventual winner moved to the lead at the top of the stretch and hustled home, covering the distance on a fast track in 1:10.25.
