LINCOLN, Neb. - Sir Magic Man rallied back through the short stretch at Lincoln to post a $30.80 upset in the $15,000 Speed Stakes for older horses at the Lincoln State Fair on Saturday afternoon. Ridden by Jose Ranilla, who posted three wins on the card, Sir Magic Man contested the early pace of the 4 1/2-furlong race, then re-rallied as 35-1 longshot Forgot the Time opened a 1 1/2-length lead into the stretch. Sir Magic Man rallied back to collar that one late and post the three-quarter-length win in 51.60 seconds over a fast track. Sir Magic Man's win price was overshadowed by Forgot the Time's $35.80 payout to place. The pair triggered a $351 exacta, while 4-5 favorite Twice as Bad, 1 1/4 lengths back in third, completed a 4-2-1 trifecta worth $1,242. Sir Magic Man, trained by Jason Wise, was making the jump into the Speed Stakes off consecutive wins over $2,500 claiming company.
