Singing Bullet to represent Romans barn in Breeders' Futurity

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trainer Dale Romans said he most likely will wait until the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile to run his latest stable star, Not This Time, and that he has another promising 2-year-old, Singing Bullet, to run instead in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity on Oct. 8 at Keeneland.
Not This Time won the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes by nearly nine lengths at Churchill last Saturday to become one of the very early favorites for the 2017 Kentucky Derby.
“You’re tempted to go ahead and try to knock out the Futurity with Not This Time when you consider the importance of getting a Grade 1 on his résumé as a future stallion prospect,” said Romans. “But it comes back a little quick from the Iroquois, and I like the idea of having a fresh horse for the Breeders’ Cup.”
Singing Bullet, by Hard Spun and out of Life At Ten, was a two-length winner of a six-furlong maiden race at Ellis Park in his Sept. 2 career debut.
“He’ll represent us well,” said Romans.
Nominations closed Wednesday for the Futurity and all the other FallStars Weekend stakes that open the 17-day Keeneland fall meet.
