Singanothersong wins Bonita by disqualification

Do the Roar may have edged Singanothersong in the stretch battle Saturday at Gulfstream Park, but Singanothersong ended up winning the war. Such was the result of the $75,000 Bonita Stakes, with Singanothersong elevated to first after Do the Roar was placed second for interference in deep stretch. The five-furlong turf sprint was the feature at Gulfstream.
Singanothersong ($18.20) raced in third early as Do the Roar pressed pacesetter Noble Prince through an opening quarter in 21.58 seconds. Do the Roar took over through a half-mile in 44.04 seconds, then drifted out as he held off Singanothersong by a neck. Do the Roar covered the distance on firm turf in 55.87 seconds.
Following the race, there was a stewards’ inquiry and a rider’s claim of foul by Singanothersong’s jockey, Emisael Jaramillo.
Singanothersong, who in 2013 won the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector at Gulfstream, is trained by Ron Pellegrini. The horse races for his breeder, Herman Van Den Broeck. Singanothersong is a 5-year-old by Songandaprayer.
Successful Native, the favorite in the Bonita, rallied for third.
