Simply Ravishing one to beat in Golden Rod

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Simply Ravishing, a troubled fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies earlier this month, is the biggest name expected for the Stars of Tomorrow card here Saturday. Winner of the Grade 1 Alcibiades, the New York-bred filly will be a decisive favorite in the Grade 2 Golden Rod, which shares co-billing with its colt-and-gelding counterpart, the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club, on a program entirely for 2-year-olds.
Simply Ravishing, trained by Ken McPeek, won her first three starts before stumbling at the start of the Juvenile Fillies. She breezed five furlongs here Saturday in 1:01.
The Friday feature is the annual fall-meet highlight, the Grade 1 Clark. Code of Honor is a lukewarm favorite in a capacity field that also includes By My Standards, Owendale, Mr Freeze, and Silver Prospector.
Sunday is closing day of the 24-day meet. Turfway Park begins four months of winter racing Dec. 2.

Finite to target La Brea
Finite earned a 92 Beyer Speed Figure in her 2 1/2-length victory last weekend in the Grade 3 Chilukki at Churchill and now will point to the Grade 1 La Brea on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita.
Ricardo Santana Jr. was aboard Finite for her sixth victory from 11 lifetime starts. The 3-year-old Munnings filly is trained by Steve Asmussen for owner-breeder Winchell Thoroughbreds and partners.
