Silverbulletday next objective for Blonde Bomber

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Stanley Gold stepped things up with his star 2-year-old Blonde Bomber, sending the third-place finisher in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies out to work six furlongs in 1:13.46 with regular exercise rider Jocelyn Kenny aboard after the renovation break on Wednesday at Gulfsteam Park.
The work nearly had to be aborted after a horse got loose on the track shortly after Blonde Bomber broke off at the 5 1/2-furlong pole. Kenny eased up on the young filly briefly into the far turn, at which point the siren, indicating trouble on the track, stopped sounding, allowing her to complete the drill as scheduled.
“The loose horse was coming the wrong way at her as she was coming into the turn, but fortunately stayed on the outside fence and went by her, so it didn’t really affect anything,” said Gold. “Right now the plan is to run her at the Fair Grounds on Jan. 13 in the Silverbulletday, although we haven’t made any firm plans just yet. We decided to go there instead of staying here because I really don’t want to back her up to one turn after she ran two turns in the Breeders’ Cup.”
The Silverbulletday, for 3-year-old fillies, is run at one mile and 70 yards. The seven-furlong Forward Gal on Feb. 3 is the first local race for 3-year-old fillies.
