Silver Wagon, Mustanfar retired

David McDonough|Dec 18, 2007
Stallion plans for two graded stakes winners were announced by their stud farms Tuesday.

Silver Wagon, a two-time Grade 1 winner, has been retired to stud at Hurricane Hall in Lexington, Ky., where he will stand for a fee of $5,000 in 2008.

A 6-year-old son of Wagon Limit, Silver Wagon won the 2003 Hopeful and this year's Carter Handicap. He last raced in the May 28 Metropolitan Handicap, finishing sixth. After that race, he was found to have a cracked shin.

Mustanfar, winner of the 2004 Lexington Stakes at Belmont and that year's Sycamore Breeders' Cup at Keeneland, both Grade 3's, has been retired to stud because of an injury to his left front ankle. He will stand at Shadwell Farm, his breeder. A 6-year-old son of Unbridled, Mustanfar will have a fee of $3,000.
