Silver Charm's sire euthanized at 29

DRF Staff|Oct 16, 2007
The pensioned sire Silver Buck was euthanized earlier this month at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla., according to a release from syndicate managers Briggs and Cromartie Bloodstock. He was 29 and suffering from complications of old age.

Silver Buck won the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga in 1982. Among his 40 stakes winners were Silver Charm, who won the 1997 Kentucky Derby and Preakness, and the Grade 1 winners Silver Maiden and Forever Silver.

Bred in Kentucky by C.V. Whitney, Silver Buck was by Buckpasser out of the Hail to Reason mare Silver True.
