Silver Baubles by a neck in Harvest Gold Plate

Silver Baubles took advantage of a fast and contested pace to win the $56,180 Harvest Gold Plate Handicap at Northlands Park on Monday. He paid $15.20 for his win in the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up.

With Quincy Welch aboard, Silver Baubles trailed the field early before making a strong move along the stretch turn. Welch wheeled him out three wide at the top of the stretch, and he wore down Magic D’ Oro in the last few strides to win by a neck. Magic D’ Oro, game in defeat, dueled with the 9-5 favorite Killin Me Smalls through quick interior fractions of 23.46 and 46.77 seconds. Killin Me Smalls finished third.

The final time was 1:45.55.

A 5-year-old gelding by Gilded Time, Silver Baubles is trained by Ron Grieves. He is owned and was bred by Bar None Ranches Ltd. The win brought his career earnings to $287,020.
