Silent Treat refuses to relent in Zadracarta victory

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Silent Treat ($19.40) notched her second stakes of the meet in her first start with Lasix on Sunday at Woodbine in the $100,000 Zadracarta.
Silent Treat went directly to the front under Michelle Rainford and proceeded to set honest fractions in the seven-furlong turf sprint for Ontario-sired females. She maintained a clear lead throughout most of the stretch and got home on top by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:21 over the firm ground.
The favored Why Katherine rallied along the rail for second, while the Grade 1 winner Spring in the Air was another neck back in third in a field reduced to seven with the scratch of Northern Passion.
“She’s the type of filly who gets really brave out on the lead,” Rainford said. “It’s her favorite thing – to go fast. That was a serious group of fillies today. Personally, I was really impressed.”
Silent Treat, a 4-year-old by Silent Name, earned $60,000 for Stablemates and trainer Scott Fairlie.
