ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Silent Treat has finished a close second in both of her starts this year and will be looking to record her first win of the Woodbine meet in Monday’s $100,000 Avowal Stakes, an overnight stakes for older fillies and mares over seven furlongs on the turf course.

Silent Treat finished second by a length in her seasonal debut in the seven-furlong Zadracarta Stakes over a yielding turf course June 27 and then lost right on the wire in the Victoriana Stakes in her most recent start Aug. 1. She earned an 82 Beyer Speed Figure in both races.

“She’s run big in both races, especially the last one,” trainer Scott Fairlie said. “She’s come out of her last race pretty good, and she’s in great shape.”

Though winless this year, Silent Treat appears to be in good form ahead of the Avowal, and Fairlie said he expects her to run well. Silent Treat has recorded a pair of strong four-furlong breezes since the Victoriana, most recently going in 48 seconds flat on the main track here Aug. 29.

“She always works good,” Fairlie said.

Key Contenders

Silent Treat (Last 3 Beyers: 82-82-33)

◗ Silent Treat finished second while recording a 90 Beyer in this event last year and should be vying for the lead in the early going. She could face pace pressure from a couple of rivals, including Harp N Halo and Green Doctor.

Stellar Path (Last 3 Beyers: 91-90-90)

◗ She held the lead late in the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes here May 23 over a mile on turf before winding up fourth. She finished third in her next start in the Grade 3 Eatontown at Monmouth Park on June 27 and has been working at Saratoga ahead of this start.

Harp N Halo (Last 3 Beyers: 82-69-66)

◗ She’ll make her stakes debut in the Avowal and ships in off a win in a second-level allowance on turf at Saratoga on Aug. 7, when she took the field gate to wire. Trainer John Terranova shipped in to win the Star Shoot Stakes with Ancient Goddess back in April.

Zensational Bunny (Last 3 Beyers: 77-76-68)

◗ One of two in the field for trainer Mark Casse, Zensational Bunny is making her second start of the year after running third behind Ageless and Leigh Court in the Grade 3 Royal North Stakes on July 26. She was second in her only other start on turf in the Alywow Stakes in June 2014.
