Silent Mistake earns maiden victory in Victorian Queen Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Silent Mistake made some noise as the favorite in Saturday’s $100,000 Victorian Queen Stakes, earning her diploma in front-running style under journeyman Gary Boulanger.
Silent Mistake ($6) dueled with Ishiyaya through moderate fractions in the six-furlong sprint for Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies. She began to draw away from that rival early in the stretch and then held off the charging 11-1 shot Georgian Dancer to win by a half-length in 1:11.39.
After getting away slowly, Preferred Guest rallied inside from last to finish a nose behind the runner-up in third. She was followed by Notice Me, Moksgmol, Ishiyaya, and Katla’s Fury.
Boulanger also rode the Norm Knight-trained Silent Mistake when she wound up third on debut in the restricted Muskoka Stakes here Aug. 29.
“She’s a pretty nice filly,” Boulanger said. “She showed me a lot of class today. She got out there, threw her ears up, and kinda waited. When I really called on her, she just kept digging in and digging in. She wouldn’t give up.”
Silent Mistake, a $45,000 yearling purchase by leading Ontario sire Silent Name, banked $60,000 for Trinity Racing Stables Inc. and Racer’s Edge Inc.
