Shysheisnot finally finds right spot
ARCADIA, Calif. – Over the last few weeks, trainer John Sadler has been playing a waiting game with the 3-year-old filly Shysheisnot at the Santa Anita autumn meeting.
Sadler had hoped to run Shysheisnot on turf in late September or early October, but a suitable race was not offered in the first three weeks of the meeting. Sadler finally finds ideal conditions for Shysheisnot in Friday’s seventh race, an optional claimer for California-bred fillies and mares over a mile on turf.
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: No. 2 Shysheisnot. Trainer John Sadler is 19-1-6-3 with a $0.56 ROI over the past two years going from synthetic to turf in routes at Santa Anita. Click for more details. – Mike Hogan

Owned by breeder Emily Wygod, Shysheisnot is part of a field of eight. The temporary turf rails are 30 feet out from their normal position.

Shysheisnot (Last 3 Beyers: 77-70-72)
◗ The optional claimer will be Shysheisnot’s first start on turf since a third in a maiden race on the hillside turf course here in June. “We thought she handled the grass fine,” Sadler said.
◗ During Del Mar, Shysheisnot won a maiden race for California-bred fillies and mares over six furlongs by 2 3/4 lengths on Polytrack.
◗ She followed that with a troubled second in an optional claimer over a mile Aug. 20. Shysheisnot was in traffic with a furlong remaining and was beaten 2 1/4 lengths.
◗ “We think she can handle any surface,” Sadler said. “She’s due. We’ve always thought she had a lot of talent.”
◗ Apprentice jockey Drayden Van Dyke has the mount.
Mindfully (Last 3 Beyers: 71-69-64)
◗ Mindfully won a maiden race for California-bred fillies and mares at Del Mar on Aug. 23 that has turned out to be a productive race. Runner-up Steel Lady returned to win a maiden race this month.
◗ A closer, Mindfully was third in a one-mile turf race for maidens here in June.
◗ She races for breeders Pam and Marty Wygod, the parents of Shysheisnot’s owner-breeder.
