Short price on Repole duo in Jazil Stakes

Headed by Repole Stable’s “M & M” entry of Micromanage and Misconnect, a field of seven older runners clashes in Monday’s $100,000 Jazil Stakes at Aqueduct.
Micromanage and Misconnect come off triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures, finishing first and third in the Queens County Stakes for respective trainers Todd Pletcher and Bruce Levine, and the duo likely will be odds-on in Monday’s race at a mile and 70 yards.
Micromanage rebounded from a last-place finish on turf in the Red Smith Handicap to earn a career-best 104 Beyer in last month’s Queens County, rallying from well off the pace to post his third stakes victory of 2014.
“He’s been training great and has been a solid horse for us, especially getting back on the dirt,” said assistant trainer Byron Hughes. “He seems to like this inner track.”
Misconnect, formerly trained by Pletcher, returned from a layoff to win a second-level allowance Oct. 31 and earned a career-high Beyer of 100 in the 1 1/8-mile Queens County.
“He has been training very, very well,” said Levine. “He came out of the Queens County very good and ran great, and I think the distance will play better to my horse than the others.”
With a good deal of rain expected in the New York area Sunday, any leftover moisture in the track could benefit several other contenders, including Abraham, Irsaal, and Schivarelli.
Abraham, also formerly trained by Pletcher, won three of six starts for Bill Mott last year, including an allowance romp in the mud by nearly 10 lengths.
Irsaal notched both of his victories last year on off tracks – a secondary allowance on a “good” inner dirt track and a high-end optional claimer with a 100 Beyer.
Schivarelli won twice on the inner dirt to start his career last winter, including a blowout score in the mud.
Key contenders
Micromanage (Last 3 Beyers: 104-49-96)
* The Queens County was his fourth stakes win and pushed his career earnings over $700,000.
* He has already beaten four of his six opponents at least once.
* His last 10 races have been at distances of 1 1/8 miles or longer.
Misconnect (Last 3 Beyers: 100-93-93)
* Should be helped by the turnback in distance; his three wins have been at seven to eight furlongs.
Schivarelli (Last 3 Beyers: 88-91-90)
* From three starts at Aqueduct, his only loss was a fourth-place finish in last year’s Wood Memorial, in which he contested the pace to deep stretch.
Irsaal (Last 3 Beyers: 94-62-78)
* Has been in the money in all four starts on the inner track.
