Shimmering Allure came bounding down the stretch to secure her first career stakes victory Sunday in the $150,000 Tempted at Aqueduct. She won by three lengths over Vino Rogue, while it was another 3 3/4 lengths back in third to Perfectly Wicked.
The Tempted, a one-turn mile for 2-year-old fillies, shared a card with the $150,000 Nashua, won by Where’s Chris ($41.60), and the $135,000 Pumpkin Pie, captured by Green Up ($5.30).
Shimmering Allure ($6.10) had just one horse beat in the early stages as Belle’s Blue Bell jumped out to the lead and set a pressured pace of 23.03 seconds for the opening quarter, 46.48 for the half-mile and 1:11.87 for six furlongs. Shimmering Allure began her bid on the turn, came five wide into the stretch, and kept rolling to get past the field and win on a track rated fast in 1:37.84.
Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer Kenny McPeek.

“She was a filly we knew would come from behind,” Alvarado told the New York Racing Association. “She broke very well today, and they outran her the first part, but I knew there was going to be a lot of speed since there was a lot of fillies coming from sprints. So, that helped her to get a fast pace up front.
“I bought my time and let her get her feet underneath. When we hit the three-eighths pole, I started tapping the shoulder and she turned it on. I knew I had enough horse to get there at the end, so I tipped out at that point and she finished up very well.”
Shimmering Allure is a daughter of the Medaglia d'Oro son Enticed who races for Walking L Thoroughbreds. She has now won 2 of 6 starts and the first-place check of $82,500 she picked up Sunday pushed her career earnings to $189,095.
Shimmering Allure came into the Tempted off a fourth-place finish in the Grade 1 Alcibiades at Keeneland. Prior to the race, she won a one-turn mile maiden special weight at Churchill Downs. She shipped into New York from Kentucky.
