She's No Quant wins Fleet Treat in dirt debut

She’s No Quant won her stakes debut, and third consecutive race, with a late rally in Friday’s $151,500 Fleet Treat Stakes for 3-year-old California-bred fillies at Del Mar.
Ridden by Juan Hernandez, She’s No Quant stalked 4-5 favorite Mohaven on the backstretch and moved into second on the turn. She’s No Quant needed most of the stretch to catch Mohaven, pulling away in the final strides to win by a length.
The second choice in a field of nine, She’s No Quant ($10) ran seven furlongs in 1:23.10.
Mohaven, a winner of three stakes for statebred fillies since late October, held second, finishing 9 1/4 lengths in front of 41-1 Tapatia Mia.
Taking a Joy Ride, Lino’s Angel, Lyndee’s Dream, Liberation, Troisieme Etoile, and Donttellmewhattodo completed the order of finish. Cecilia’s Street, Christa McAuliffe, and The Loan Exchange were scratched earlier on Friday,

Mohaven set an early pace of 22.06 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 44.69 for a half-mile. She led by 1 1/2 lengths after a half-mile.
She’s No Quant, who was jostled between runners shortly after the start, was fifth at the end of the backstretch when Hernandez urged her into contention. She’s No Quant quickly moved into second entering the stretch, and was within a length of Mohaven with a furlong remaining.
She’s No Quant, who races for owners and breeders Paul and Zillah Reddam, has won 3 of 5 starts and earned $180,900.
The Fleet Treat Stakes was her first start on dirt. She won two six-furlong races on turf for California-breds at Santa Anita in the spring – a maiden race on May 22 and an allowance race on June 12.
She’s No Quant gave trainer Ed Freeman his fifth career stakes win at Del Mar, and first since Naughty Tiger won the 2018 CTBA Stakes.
She’s No Quant is by Pavel, who has had five winners in the first five days of the Del Mar summer meeting. Pavel, who stands at the Reddams’ Ocean Breeze Ranch in nearby Bonsall, Calif., is the sire of four California-bred 2-year-old maiden race winners last weekend.
