She's a Julie retired, will sell at Fasig-Tipton November sale

Multiple Grade 1 winner She’s a Julie has been retired and will be offered as a broodmare prospect at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale on Nov. 8.
The 5-year-old Elusive Quality mare last raced on Sept. 4 when sixth in the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs. Overall, She’s a Julie won 7 of 21 career starts and earned $1,196,380 in a career spanning four seasons.
She’s a Julie won the Grade 3 Iowa Oaks and Grade 3 Remington Oaks in 2018, and also finished second to Eskimo Kisses in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes that year, with future champion Midnight Bisou in third. Last year, after winning the Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes, she broke through at the Grade 1 level, winning the La Troienne by a half-length over Secret Spice. Eventual Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Blue Prize was third. She’s a Julie placed in three other graded stakes in 2019.
She’s a Julie had a final moment of glory this season, winning the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps in June at Belmont by a nose over Point of Honor and Ollie’s Candy.

“She was the real deal on the racetrack, but you have got to see her in person to understand what a beautiful mare she is,” trainer Steve Asmussen said in a press release. “Named after my wife, she is so very special to me and my family. It is really hard for me to let this one go.”
She’s a Julie was bred in Kentucky by Godolphin and was a $160,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by Whispering Oaks and Carol Castille. She raced at the end of her career for a partnership including Bradley Thoroughbreds, Tim and Anna Cambron, Denali Stid, Rigney Racing, and Madaket Stables. She will be consigned by Denali at Fasig-Tipton.
“I would be remiss not to thank Carrol and Stacy Castille, the original owners who are responsible for naming her for Steve’s wife, Julie, for allowing us to jump on this incredible adventure,” said Peter Bradley of Bradley Thoroughbreds.
She’s a Julie is out of the winning mare Kydd Gloves, one of just 56 foals sired in the lone crop of Godolphin’s champion Dubai Millennium.
Kydd Gloves is the second dam of stakes winner Ambassadorial via her daughter Tactfully. Out of graded stakes winner Parade Queen, Kydd Gloves is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Untouched Talent, dam of classic-placed Grade 1 winner and classic sire Bodemeister.
