She's Better Loud shakes free from stablemate

Patrick Lemoreaux|May 31, 2010

ALTOONA, Iowa - She's Better Loud engaged in a speed duel with stablemate That'll Be the Day before pulling clear to a 4 3/4-length victory in the $60,000 Bob Bryant, a six-furlong sprint race for 3-year-old Iowa bred fillies on Monday at Prairie Meadows.

"After the quarter, I thought they were going to kill each other." said trainer Mike Natale.

Jockey Glen Murphy swiftly took She's Better Loud ($3.60) to the lead and she was accompanied by stablemate That'll Be the Day. They went through the early fractions in 22.53 and 45.97 seconds. Murphy quickened his mount on the far turn, quickly putting five lengths on the six contenders by the top of lane.

She's Better Loud completed the six furlongs in 1:11.29. Jamaican Me Crazy rallied well from sixth early to finish second.

It was the fourth time owner Sandra Rasmussen of River Ridge Ranch has won the stakes.

* Even-money favorite Cainam extended his winning win streak at Prairie Meadows to three races by defeating five rivals in the $60,000 Gray's Lake for 3-year-old Iowa-bred colts and geldings.

In three starts at the meet, Cainam has won going 5 furlongs, a mile, and now six furlongs.

"It's hard for a young horse to go short-long-short but, he's smart and he figured it out." said trainer Lynn Chleborad.

Cainam dueled with Wings of War through midstretch, and set fractions of 22.95, 46.02, and 58.15. Cainam drew away inside the final furlong to triumph over Wings of War by 1 1/4 lengths. Jockey Glenn Corbett guided Cainam through the six furlongs in 1:10.59.

Chleborad had no immediate plans for Cainam, a son of Is It True owned by Jim Leech, but sees longer distances on the horizon. "Eventually I think he is a nice route horse,"

Chleborad said.
