She’s All Ready will get class relief in Maid of the Mist

After finishing a respectable third Oct. 3 in the Grade 1 Frizette, She’s All Ready will return to New York-bred competition in the $250,000 Maid of the Mist Stakes here Oct. 24, said trainer Jim Ryerson.
She’s All Ready was very impressive while defeating New York-breds in two starts at Saratoga. Over a sloppy track in the Frizette, she set the pace into the stretch but gave way late to Nickname and Nemoralia.
The one-mile distance was always a question, and Ryerson wasn’t sure it was answered either way due to the sloppy track conditions in the Frizette. The Maid of the Mist is run as a one-turn mile.
“You still have to question what her best distance is going to be,” said Ryerson. “How did the slop factor in her performance?”
Meanwhile, Ryerson said Wave of Glory, a Florida-bred daughter of Midshipman who won her debut on a muddy track here Sept. 13, is being pointed to the Grade 2, $200,000 Matron at six furlongs here Oct. 18.
“She had trained well up to that race, but I was a little surprised she was able to win,” said Ryerson. “I think there were a couple of nice fillies in there. We’ll see how much the track helped her.”
Ryerson also has a promising 2-year-old colt in Luminary Flight, who was beaten a nose by River Dell in the first race Oct. 3 after breaking awkwardly.
“I didn’t think he was tight enough to win, but I thought he ran really well,” said Ryerson. “Johnny [Velazquez] said he broke in a little. He took a hold, and the horse overreacted and threw his head up. He made a pretty quick move to get himself back in it. I thought the start might have taken its toll.”
Luminary Flight likely will run back in a maiden race.
