She's All Ready shakes off rivals to win Seeking the Ante

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – She’s All Ready proved she was more than a one-hit wonder when following her one-sided debut victory with another equally impressive performance, a convincing three-length triumph over Super Surprise in the $200,000 Seeking the Ante Stakes for New York-bred juvenile fillies Friday at Saratoga.
She’s All Ready, a daughter of Girolamo, had to withstand early pace pressure from Crowd Control, the pair contesting a 22.04-second opening quarter and a 45.39 half-mile. She’s All Ready shook off her early rival nearing the stretch, opened a comfortable advantage leaving the furlong grounds, and was not seriously threatened thereafter.
Super Surprise raced within close proximity of the leaders from the outset, continued on willingly down the stretch but proved no match for the winner while easily second best, checking home 3 1/4 lengths in front of Lemon Liqueur.
She’s All Ready, who is trained by Jim Ryerson for the Nirvana Stables, completed 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.71 and paid $2.60.
“I thought she could deal with it all right,” said Ryerson about whether he was concerned when he saw She’s All Ready being pressured during the early stages of the race. “She’s smart. She’s like an old boy. Whether you’re hooked or not hooked, you need to relax, and mentally, she has that ability, so to tell you the truth, I wasn’t real concerned. And when I saw nobody was running after she left them in the stretch, it felt real good.”
Ryerson said it remains to be seen how far She’s All Ready will carry her speed.
“She’s a thick filly,” said Ryerson. “She’s built like a sprinter, but she’s very strong and very mature, which at this stage gives her an edge. I don’t think we’d be afraid to try her against open company next. We’ll just see what the schedule looks like, but it could be a real possibility because I think she’s got the ability to handle it.”
