Sheer Drama works six furlongs
Barbara D. Livingston Sheer Drama might make her 2016 debut in the Madison Stakes on April 9 at Keeneland.
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Sheer Drama moved another step closer to her 2016 debut, working six furlongs in 1:15.38 around the dogs over a fast but slightly cuppy track here Friday. Sheer Drama, who has not started since finishing fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, posted splits of 26.40 seconds and 50.60 before galloping out seven-eighths in 1:29.
◗ Jockey Leonel Reyes picked up his first North American victory, guiding Virgen Morena to a 5 1/4-length victory in Thursday’s eighth race. Reyes, 29, was a two-time national champion in his native Venezuela, where he won 1,400 races prior to coming to the U.S. Reyes came here on the advice of a countryman, trainer Jose Garoffalo.
