Shea D Summer holds off Competitive Speed in Game Face

Shea D Summer paid $9.00 for her front-running victory in the $75,000 Game Face at Gulfstream Park Saturday.
With Ismael Jaramillo aboard, Shea D Summer broke alertly and was under pressure from Minute Waltz and Mon Petit Chou while posting interior splits of 22.45 and 45.17 seconds in the 6 1/2-furlong dash for 3-year-old fillies. She opened up a two-length advantage at the eighth pole and was never threatened by Competitive Speed, who rallied to nab the runner-up spot. Mon Petit Chou finished third.
Shea D Summer posted a final time of 1:17.17 with a winning margin of 2 1/2 lengths.
A Florida-bred daughter of Summer Front, Shea D Summer is trained by Carlos David and races for Shea D Boys Stable.
The $45,570 she received boosted her career earnings from six starts to $121,036.
