She Ain’t Bad seeks third straight win in Lady Angela

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Trainer Bob Tiller will be holding a strong hand in the $125,000 Lady Angela Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday, when he runs She Ain’t Bad and Sweater Weather in the seven-furlong test for Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.
The aptly named She Ain’t Bad has three wins and a second in four career starts. In May, she captured two six-furlong Ontario-sired races, including a troubled run against older opposition in which she dropped back along the rail on the turn after attending to the pace before re-rallying to prevail with a 74 Beyer Speed Figure.
“I was really impressed with her race the other day,” Tiller said. “She got shut off a little down the backstretch, so [Luis Contreras] had to grab her. She went on and got it done. I think she’s a nice filly. She’s very determined.”
Tiller said he isn’t fazed about running She Ain’t Bad back in two weeks Saturday but was more concerned with her ability to handle the seven furlongs. Contreras will ride her again.
Sweater Weather romped in an Ontario-sired allowance route May 23 that came on the heels of a runner-up placing behind She Ain’t Bad.
“She’s in good order,” Tiller said. “Her last race wasn’t too tough, non-winners of two.”
Trainer Dave Cotey entered the two-time restricted stakes winner On Rainbow Bridge, who has been idle since ending up third in the Sept. 28 Victorian Queen Stakes.
Cotey said On Rainbow Bridge bruised her stifles and tore the skin off her ankles in a training accident this spring that delayed her return to competition.
“After she got hurt, we came back and worked her, and we just weren’t quite happy, so we gave her a little more time,” Cotey said. “She’s been training for a long time. She’s been working real good. I wish it was six furlongs.”
