Lambeth made the move to three turns for the first time in his career for the $200,000 Temperence Hill late last month at Oaklawn Park and wired his rivals in the 1 1/2-mile race to earn a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 100. He’s now settled in at Churchill Downs and targeting another marathon race. Trainer Joe Sharp said Lambeth is being pointed for the $200,000 Isaac Murphy Marathon, a 1 1/2-mile race April 30 at Churchill Downs. Lambeth had won a first-level allowance at 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn ahead of his win in the Temperence Hill, which came under jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. Sharp said the manner in which Lambeth trains led him to test the son of Arrogate at a marathon distance in the Temperence Hill. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! I had a lot of confidence stretching him out – and he’s already gone to Oaklawn and showed that he liked that track.” Lambeth, 4, is a new face in a division dominated by Next. “I think it’s kind of a limited group of as far as whose a specialist in that distance,” Sharp said. “We obviously know about Next. I’d like to be the younger one coming into the category. We’re excited. But I don’t think he’s limited to that. He doesn’t have to go a mile and a half to be good, but I think it definitely opens up some options for us.” Lambeth races for Carl Moore. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
