Sharp fillies square off in Jostle Stakes
A trio of 3-year-old fillies – all coming off daylight wins and career-best Beyer Speed Figures in first-level allowance races – step up to stakes company for Saturday’s $75,000 Jostle Stakes at Parx Racing.
The Midwest-based Warriorscmoutoplay and local last-out winners Discreet Senorita and Truth in the Lies all come into the 6 1/2-furlong Jostle after recording similar Beyers.
After losing six straight to begin her career, Warriorscmoutoplay substantially improved to win back-to-back races at Keeneland and Churchill Downs with Beyers of 82 and 85. She ships in from Arlington for trainer Mike Stidham, who is 2 for 5 with dirt sprinters at Parx.
Discreet Senorita (82) and Truth in the Lies (83) posted nearly identical Beyers for their wins in early May.
Discreet Senorita, a winner of three straight, was flattered when the fillies who finished fourth and fifth in her most recent race came back to win, although with relatively slow Beyers of 69 and 52.
Three fillies from the May 4 race won by Truth in the Lies returned to run well. Fifth-place finisher Total Talent won with a 78 Beyer, and two others finished second with Beyers of 76 and 73.
The seven-horse Jostle also includes Lindisfarne, the winner of the Marshua Stakes at Laurel in January. She ships in from New York for trainer Rudy Rodriguez, who shows a 17-for-54 record (31 percent) at Parx with dirt sprinters like Lindisfarne making their first start following a break of 31 to 60 days.
Darling Sky, first or second in three of four starts locally, returns to sprinting after a troubled, wide trip in her first attempt going two turns in the Parx Oaks. She was a close second in the seven-furlong Gin Talking at Laurel in her final start at 2.
