Shared Belief will work three times before Santa Anita Handicap

Shared Belief will have three workouts at Golden Gate Fields in the coming weeks before returning to Santa Anita for the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap on March 7.
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said on Friday that Shared Belief emerged from his win in the $590,000 San Antonio Stakes on Feb. 7 in good order and will have a workout at Golden Gate Fields on Wednesday.
Shared Belief, the champion 2-year-old male of 2013, won the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes at 1 1/8 miles by 1 1/2 lengths over California Chrome, the 2014 Horse of the Year. California Chrome is expected to make his next start in the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates on March 28.
Shared Belief’s competition in the Big Cap may include Moreno, the winner of the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga last August. On Friday at Los Alamitos, Moreno worked six furlongs in 1:13.60. Trainer Eric Guillot said this week that Moreno will be considered for the Big Cap or the $250,000 Razorback Handicap at 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn Park on March 14.
Moreno has not raced since finishing last of 14 in the Breeders’ Cup Classic here in November. Shared Belief was a troubled fourth in that race, his only loss in a 10-race career.
