Shared Belief has easy drill at Golden Gate

A three-furlong workout by Shared Belief on Tuesday at Golden Gate was a maintenance move, nothing more. Still, it was meaningful – the work confirmed the gelding's condition after his tough-trip fourth as the Breeder’ Cup Classic favorite on Nov. 1.
“He’s doing very well," trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said. "It was his first breeze out of the race and he did it very nicely. Russell Baze was on him like usual, and he did real well.”
Shared Belief was timed in 36.80 seconds.
Hollendorfer expects Shared Belief will not race again until 2015. “I don’t have any hard and fast plans for this particular horse for the rest of year,” he said.
Shared Belief, 7 for 7 into the Breeders’ Cup and favored at 5-2, got roughed up early. He steadied twice, lost position and rallied to fourth, 3 3/4 lengths behind winner Bayern, whose left turn leaving the gate caused much of the trouble in the race.
Plans call for Shared Belief to remain in training at Golden Gate. “We’re going to freshen him and train him at the same time,” Hollendorfer said. “There will be plenty of races next year, and I don’t want to send him to a farm.”
