Shared Belief continues preparation for Awesome Again

Shared Belief stayed on target for the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes on Sept. 27 at Santa Anita with a six-furlong work Tuesday at Golden Gate Fields.
Shared Belief worked in company in 1:15.20 under Ricardo Gonzalez. The orchestrated workout went just as planned, according to trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
“He broke off behind two workmates and finished 10 lengths in front of them,” Hollendorfer said. “He worked real well. He had the fastest work of the day.”
Hollendorfer said Shared Belief will have one more workout at Golden Gate before he ships to Santa Anita next Tuesday or Wednesday.
The unbeaten Shared Belief won his sixth straight race Aug. 24 at Del Mar, where he defeated older stakes horses in the Grade 1, 1 1/4-mile Pacific Classic with a 115 Beyer Speed Figure. The gelding shipped back to Golden Gate afterward because Hollendorfer prefers to train him on synthetic.
“He’s been very consistent, looks very good, and is doing very well,” Hollendorfer said.
Shared Belief is expected to be favored in the 1 1/8-mile Awesome Again and is widely considered the early favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 1.
Candidates to face Shared Belief in the Awesome Again include Fed Biz, Soi Phet, and Imperative.
