Shancelot will face eight in H. Allen Jerkens Stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Shancelot, who earned the highest Beyer Speed Figure of any horse this year when he recorded a 121 winning the Grade 2 Amsterdam Stakes, will face eight opponents in the Grade 1, $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens for 3-year-olds going seven furlongs.
Shancelot, undefeated in three starts for trainer Jorge Navarro, will face a field that includes Mind Control, last year’s Grade 1 Hopeful winner, and Hog Creek Hustle, who upset the Grade 1 Woody Stephens on Belmont Stakes Day.
Others entered include Nitrous, second in the Amsterdam and Woody Stephens, Borracho, Rowayton, The Big S, Twelfth Labour, and Call Paul.
Come Dancing to face six in Ballerina
Come Dancing, freshened by trainer Carlos Martin since a runner-up finish to Midnight Bisou in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps, will return to the races against six rivals in Saturday’s Grade 1, $500,000 Ballerina Stakes at seven furlongs.
The last time Come Dancing raced seven furlongs, she won the Grade 3 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct by 7 3/4 lengths, earning a 114 Beyer Speed Figure.
Come Dancing will have a new rider in the Ballerina as Javier Castellano takes over for Manny Franco.
Come Dancing will face a field that includes Dawn the Destroyer, Mia Mischief, Minit to Stardom, Pacific Gale, Special Relativity, and Separationofpowers.
