Shamrock Rose takes them all the way in La Lorgnette

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The tepid favorite, Shamrock Rose, ran them off their feet under Jerome Lermyte when taking the $101,000 La Lorgnette Stakes easily at Woodbine on Saturday.
Shamrock Rose ($7.20) set modest fractions in the 1 1/16-mile route, while being pressed by second choice Avie’s Mineshaft on the backstretch.
Shamrock Rose opened up a clear lead exiting the far turn, and then pulled away to prevail by 4 1/2 lengths in a time of 1:44.37. Shamrock Rose was given an 84 Beyer Speed Figure.
Miss Mo Mentum rallied for second to give trainer Mark Casse a sweep of the top two positions. Cosmic Love finished third, and A.A. Azula’s Arch checked in fourth in the 10-horse field of 3-year-old fillies.
“She took a very good start, so I tried to make the best of it,” Lermyte said. “We had the chance to be able to register the fractions. We went quite a slow pace. She did a very good performance today. I’m very pleased with her.”
Shamrock Rose also won her previous start, in a stakes for Pennsylvania-breds at Presque Isle Downs. The daughter of First Dude collected $60,000 for Conrad Farms.
