Shaman Ghost, Effinex under consideration for Clark

Shaman Ghost, the Grade 1 Woodward winner who was scratched out of the Breeders’ Cup Classic due to a temperature, will point to the Grade 1 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25, trainer Jimmy Jerkens said Wednesday.
Jerkens also might run Effinex, last year’s Clark winner who finished seventh in the Classic.
Jerkens said Shaman Ghost started galloping Wednesday at Belmont.
“We’ll see how he is the next few days,” Jerkens said. “Trying to make the Clark.”
Shaman Ghost hasn’t run since winning the Grade 1 Woodward at Saratoga on Sept. 3. He was purposely held out of the Jockey Club Gold Cup on Oct. 8 to enter the Classic fresh. He developed a temperature and backed off his feed late last week at Santa Anita, prompting the scratch.
Russell Cohen, the agent for his family-run Tri-Bone Stables, said Effinex came out of the Classic in good order and he would like to try and make the Clark if possible.
Cohen said he has been getting offers to stand Effinex at stud next year, possibly in New York. Cohen has previously said that he would like to run Effinex in 2017.
