The filly Shaken Goin On won her fourth stakes of 2025 at Los Alamitos, and second stakes worth at least six figures, in Sunday’s $175,000 Southern California Derby, the track’s last major race of the year. The win was widely expected. Shaken Goin On, ridden by Justine Klaiber, led throughout and won by a half-length over 4-1 Favorite Jesshawk, the winner of the $193,700 Golden State Derby in August. Sent off favored, Shaken Goin On ($3.40) ran 400 yards in 19.86 seconds. Train B Taka, the 6-1 third choice, finished third in the field of 10. Shaken Goin On won 6 of 8 starts in 2025, including the $430,000 Los Alamitos Oaks in March. Her only two losses this year were a last-place finish in a field of eight in a division of the Rainbow Oaks trials at Ruidoso Downs in June, and a third by a half-length in the $100,000 Mildred Vessels Handicap for fillies and mares at Los Alamitos in September. Aside from the Los Alamitos Oaks and Southern California Derby, Shaken Goin On won two minor stakes at Los Alamitos. She was the track’s only four-time stakes winner this year.
