Shadowless upsets in Kennedy Road

Shadowless ($35.60) outran 10-1 shot Rouse the Cat and favored Storm Treasure to land his first stakes Saturday at Woodbine in the $162,350 Kennedy Road.

Shadowless raced in midpack along the inside under Justin Stein, while Rouse the Cat pressed Main Executive through fractions of 22.26 and 44.65 seconds in the six-furlong dash.

Shadowless split horses exiting the turn and mowed down Rouse the Cat inside the eighth pole en route to a half-length score in a time of 1:09.08. Rouse the Cat held off a fast-closing Storm Treasure to end up second by a nose in the 10-horse field.

"He almost ran over the two horses in front of him," said Stein. "I just had to wait a little longer, and when I pulled the trigger, away he went."

Shadowless, trained by David Bell, banked $99,000 for owner-breeder Heather Takahashi.
