Preakness Stakes winner and sire Shackleford has been exported to continue his stud career in Korea. The relocation was first confirmed by trainer Dale Romans, speaking on At The Races with Steve Byk on SiriusXM Radio. Romans trained Shackleford throughout his career and conditions several of his top progeny. The stallion is no longer listed on Darby Dan Farm’s website, with the Kentucky farm’s roster now numbering nine stallions. Shackleford won the 2011 Preakness Stakes by a half-length over Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, and later that year finished second to Caleb's Posse in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. The strong field for that Met Mile included To Honor and Serve, Jackson Bend, Caixa Eletronica, and Saginaw. Shackleford went on to conclude his career by winning the Grade 1 Clark Handicap. The best runner for Shackleford, who entered stud in 2013, is Grade 1 winner Promises Fulfilled, who took the 2018 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Saratoga for Romans. The millionaire has won five graded stakes, emulating his sire by doing so at both one and two turns. Shackleford's 14 total stakes winners to date also include Grade 2 winner Malagacy and Grade 3 winners Danuska's My Girl, Dream It Is, Phantom Boss, and Wellabled.
