Several special wagers available for Breeders' Cup

The Breeders’ Cup once again will offer several special wagers and guaranteed pools, as well as a standard betting menu. Here is a list of the available bets:

* The BC Jockey Bet, which is a win-only wager ($2 minimum) on the jockey with the most BC wins over the two-day period. In case of a tie for most wins, the pool will be split as if it were a place pool (two-way tie), show pool (three-way tie), etc.

Bettors can choose from a lengthy roster of individual jockeys, or a “field” or all others option, which has been set as the 3-1 morning-line favorite. Last year at Santa Anita, a $2 bet on the field (5 wins) returned $5.60 from a pool of about $117,000.

* A two-day daily double ($1 minimum) linking the winners of the Ladies’ Classic and BC Classic. Last year, the $2 double combining Life Is Sweet and Zenyatta paid $92.60 from a pool of $403,317.

* Guaranteed pick-six pools of $750,000 on Friday (races 5-10) and $2 million on Saturday (races 6-11). There is a mandatory payout Saturday, even in the case of no perfect tickets.

* Guaranteed pick four pools: $750,000 on Friday races 7-10; $1 million on Saturday races 4-7; and $1.5 million on Saturday races 8-11.

* A super high five wager ($1 minimum) on the Ladies’ Classic and BC Classic. There is a mandatory payout on BC Classic.

* Superfectas are available on all races, and in 10-cent increments; trifectas, pick threes, and pick fours are available in 50-cent increments for the first time in BC history. Rolling doubles are $1 minimum.

* There are no head-to-head proposition wagers.
