Several juveniles turn in impressive works at OBS April breeze show
As the under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training approaches the midway point of its weeklong run, 13 juveniles by 13 different sires share the fastest furlong time of 9 4/5 seconds.
Through three of seven sessions, colts by By My Standards, Galilean, Into Mischief, Leinster, Maximus Mischief, and Shancelot and fillies by Army Mule, Authentic, Curlin, Munnings, Not This Time, Temple City, and Upstart had worked the bullet furlong on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack.
A bullet worker is the second feather in the cap this week for Leinster, who became the first North American freshman sire off the mark with a winner on Sunday at Keeneland.
Fillies by Mitole, the 2023 leading freshman sire, and Yaupon, also among this year's freshman class, share the fastest quarter-mile, as each breezed in 20 2/5 seconds.
Longer works are rarer at under-tack preview shows, but two juveniles have worked three furlongs thus far this week, with a Munnings colt going the fastest in 34 seconds. A Connect colt is the only half-mile worker, going in 47 3/5 seconds, while a handful of juveniles have only galloped.
The OBS April breeze show continues with daily sessions through Saturday, April 12. The OBS sale then takes place over four sessions from April 15-18. In addition to noteworthy updates on DRF.com, click here for hip-by-hip results.
