Seven’s Eleven took the field gate-to-wire in Friday’s Howard and Sondra Bender Memorial Stakes at Laurel Park. The Bender Memorial, for 3-year-olds and upward at seven furlongs, was one of two $75,000 stakes for Maryland-bred or -sired performers on the program along with the Politely for fillies and mares at six furlongs. Trained by Carlos Mancilla and ridden by Angel Cruz, Seven’s Eleven broke well from the rail post, and hustled up to set a pressured pace inside longshot Tenax through an opening quarter of 22.91 seconds. Tenax folded quickly, and that left Seven’s Eleven on a pretty easy lead over a track that favored speed for most of the afternoon. :: DRF's Black Friday Sale: Get 20% off (almost) everything in the DRF Shop.
