Servis pulls plug on Oaklawn trip for Mischevious Alex, Diamond King

Trainer John Servis was planning to send Mischevious Alex and Diamond King to Oaklawn Park this weekend for stakes races, but canceled those plans due to the restrictive quarantine rules put in place by The Stronach Group.
Horses that race at Oaklawn would have to serve a 14-day quarantine period at a farm in Florida before being able to return to Gulfstream Park or the Palm Meadows training center, both Stronach Group properties. Further, Servis said, any help he would send to Oaklawn would not be permitted to return Gulfstream or Palm Meadows at all.
Servis was going to run Mischevious Alex, winner of the Grade 3 Gotham at Aqueduct and Grade 3 Swale at Gulfstream, in the $200,000 Oaklawn Stakes for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles. Diamond King, winner of the Stymie at Aqueduct, was going to run in the $150,000 Oaklawn Mile.

“I was thinking about it but I’m not going to be able to do it,” Servis said. “The quarantine doesn’t start until they get back into the state of Florida. I’m going to pass and probably put him on idle for a while, at least until we get some type of schedule.”
Servis said Kendrick Carmouche was planning to ride both horses.
