Services for Parisella scheduled for Sept. 10

Funeral services for John Parisella, the colorful and successful trainer who died on July 3 in a Long Island hospital, will be held Sept. 10 at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

Parisella, a native of Brooklyn, won 1,241 races and his horses earned more than $23 million in purses before Parisella saddled his last horse in 2016.

Parisella trained both in New York and California and was dubbed “trainer to the stars” as he conditioned horses for Hollywood stars such as James Caan, Jack Klugman, and Telly Savalas.
