NEW ORLEANS – Serengeti Empress zipped a half-mile in 47.40 seconds, fastest of 75 works at the distance Friday morning at Fair Grounds, in her first work since she finished second to Lady Apple in the Houston Ladies Classic on Jan. 26 while making her 4-year-old debut. Two horses from January spill form Friday exacta Ohmymy Ohmyyes and Jacobs Flyer finished first and second in the first race Friday at Fair Grounds, an exacta formed by two horses involved in a spill here Jan. 24. Ohmymy Ohmyyes ran into Miss You Jo, who clipped heels and fell around the half-mile pole in the final race on Jan. 24, but though he was eased, Ohmymy Ohmyyes walked off the course. Jacob’s Flyer crashed directly into Miss You Jo, sending Shaun Bridgmohan careening over his head, and was vanned off the course, but, obviously, nothing was seriously amiss with either horse. Ohmymy Ohmyyes and Mitchell Murrill were 3 1/4 lengths best Friday at odds of 2-1, while Jacobs Flyer got up for second at just short of 14-1. Mr. Money edging toward 4-year-old debut Mr. Money, who won four graded stakes from one mile to 1 1/8 miles and finished second in the Pennsylvania Derby last year, worked a half-mile in 49.20 seconds here Friday, his third workout following a winter break. Mr. Money ended his 3-year-old campaign with a seventh-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. Trainer Bret Calhoun said in a text message there were no concrete plans for Mr. Money’s 4-year-old debut, but the $400,000 Oaklawn Mile could be one option.
